Agnes Obel (DK)
CAPTIVATING AND ENIGMATIC PIANO COMPOSITIONS
After a six-year break from the stage, Agnes Obel is returning to Switzerland. The classically trained pianist with her elegant, expressive voice last played sold-out concerts in Zurich and Lausanne in 2022. Obel's compositions combine alternative, neoclassical, pop, jazz and electronic music to create a moving world of sound. It is hard to imagine film, television, video games and fashion without her works. Her music has been used in The Last of Us, True Detective, Big Little Lies and the video game Dark Souls III, among others. Riverside, Fuel to Fire, The Curse, September Song, It's Happening Again, Familiar - the list goes on and on. The soundscapes that the Dane creates have a Scandinavian magic about them. They are far more than mere background music: they get under your skin, bring out deep emotions and resonate for a long time. So it's no wonder that her music is repeatedly used in key moments in film and television.
Agnes Obel combines influences from PJ Harvey and Claude Debussy. She is often compared to Ane Brun, Eva Cassidy and Joni Mitchell. Her debut album Philharmonics (2010) was - apart from the John Cale cover I Keep a Close Watch - written, performed and produced by the artist herself. To this day, she brings her all-round talent to all her work processes.
