Volkshaus, Zurich
After announcing his new album Against The Dying Of The Light, José González has now also announced his accompanying tour. He will be playing at the Volkshaus in Zurich on November 15.
José González is widely regarded as one of the most captivating live performers in contemporary music. On stage, he transforms a single voice and guitar into an expansive and immersive concert experience. His performances move effortlessly between restrained intimacy and a powerful, multi-layered sound in which complex rhythms and dynamic shifts fill the room and hold the audience in rapt attention. Even when he performs solo, he creates a sense of grandeur and depth that makes every show seem vast, intense and emotionally moving. He has regularly sold out concert halls and theaters worldwide and has earned a global reputation as a must-see live artist.
On March 27, González releases his new album Against The Dying Of The Light, which he announced with the singles "Pajarito" and "Against The Dying Of The Light", and returns to the stage with further developed, new material. The album reflects on humanity, technology and the uncertain direction of the modern world, combining thought-provoking themes with his signature melodic and rhythmic songwriting. The upcoming live program interweaves these new songs with highlights from his previous work, creating a balance between introspection and rhythmic energy. On November 15, José González will bring his album to the Volkshaus in Zurich.
Since his breakthrough with the debut album Veneer (2003), which includes the iconic song "Heartbeats", José González has built an international reputation through more than two decades of acclaimed songwriting and touring. His last studio album Local Valley was released in 2021, followed by a celebrated 20th anniversary edition of Veneer in 2023 and extensive international touring in 2023 and 2024. Now he returns with a new album and an evolved live show that reflects the full breadth of his artistic development.
José González's concerts are characterized by precision, warmth and presence - performances in which subtle details and a wide-ranging sound coexist and draw the audience into a shared, concentrated atmosphere. The upcoming tour presents an artist at the peak of his career, offering a live experience that is both intimate and monumental.
