CELEBRATING PRIDE

Here at Sunrise, we’re proud to celebrate Pride month and the LGBTQI+ community. We believe it’s important to create an inclusive space and workplace where everyone feels valued and supported, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. We strongly believe that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and we’re committed to upholding these values in all of our interactions with customers and employees. Pride is a time to honor the struggles and progress towards equity and equality for the LGBTQI+ community.   

PROUDLY CONNECTING. EVERYBODY, EVERYWHERE.

This year we’re focusing on opening even more connections and conversations within Sunrise and with our customers. The more we understand each other, the more we’ll be open to respecting our differences and able to support each other better. And that can only be achieved through open connections and exchanges where everyone is free to discuss LGBTQI+ topics with no fear of judgement. In the past we’ve organized sessions for employees about Coming Out Day as well as Transgender Day of Visibility. Similar sessions are planned for Pride month. 

We’ve summarized our 2023 goal of more open and connected discussions in our slogan PROUDLY CONNECTING. EVERYBODY, EVERYWHERE. which represents our inclusive, universal Sunrise approach to be open to all. 

BOLDLY EMBRACING DIVERSITY AND INCLUSIVITY FOR CUSTOMERS AND EMPLOYEES 

Here at Sunrise, our diverse workforce and customers are integral to our success. In 2021 we developed YouBelong!, which contains the framework conditions for diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I). With DE&I as part of our DNA we continuously strive to create an inclusive environment, where our customers and employees feel valued and respected. As part of our Pride 2023 campaign, we passionately encourage our employees to participate in Pride events and celebrations throughout the month. We aim to foster greater understanding and empathy among colleagues by sharing personal stories and experiences. To promote a more inclusive workplace, we also engage our employees in ongoing diversity and inclusion training. 

We believe that understanding is a critical foundation for creating a more inclusive workplace and society. By taking the time to learn about different perspectives and experiences, we can gain a deeper appreciation for the challenges that others face and the ways in which we can support them. Through ongoing education and dialogue, we can continue to broaden our understanding of LGBTQI+ issues and work towards a more equitable and just world.

Respecting others is essential to creating a workplace and community where everyone feels valued and supported. YOU’RE INVITED TO TAKE ACTION

Positive messages, intentions and attitudes don’t go far without action. So here are a few easy actions you can already take today to support our LGBTQI+ community in Switzerland.

Connect

Meet an LGBTQI+ friend, acquaintance or colleague for a chat, and learn about their journey, their struggles and the ways in which they think you could support them. Speak bravely and openly, and don’t be afraid of being judged. It’s ok not to know and to be curious.

Show Your Support

Wear some digital or physical merchandise. Change the desktop background on your computer, your Zoom or Microsoft Teams video background, grab a t-shirt or a Pride lanyard. Every little bit counts.

Be There

Attend Pride events in your local area and invite your friends and family to join you in the celebrations.

Read, Watch, Listen

Learn about the LGBTQI+ community by reading articles and books or watching documentaries to understand its history, issues and achievements better.

Speak Up

Be proactive in speaking up against discrimination and harassment when you witness such incidents.

Supporting each other is the cornerstone of our approach to diversity and inclusion. We believe that by providing support to our customers and employees, we can create a more caring and compassionate workplace and community. Whether it’s through providing resources and training, or offering a listening ear and a helping hand, we’re committed to supporting the needs of the LGBTQI+ community and ensuring that everyone feels valued and supported.
