How can I protect myself against high costs abroad (roaming)?

Most recently modified:

When you use your mobile phone abroad (roaming) at the standard rate you can incur high costs, especially with data traffic. That is why we recommend in any case that you use our roaming options while abroad.

Additionally you can adjust several settings in the Sunrise Roaming Cockpit to protect yourself from high roaming costs:

Block data usage when you used up your data package or your included roaming data

Adjust the settings in the Sunrise Roaming Cockpit in the tab “Settings” in the “Roaming Settings” section. To deactivate data roaming check the checkmark "Cost control for data roaming”.

Avoid costs for call forwarding to your mailbox

When you are traveling abroad and you receive a message in your mailbox, you pay for the cost of the incoming call and the cost of forwarding it to your mailbox in Switzerland. This is an international standard. When you retrieve your message, you also incur a charge for calling your mailbox in Switzerland.
Adjust the settings in the Sunrise Roaming Cockpit in the tab “Settings” in the “Roaming Settings” section. To avoid costs for call forwarding to your mailbox when abroad check the checkmark “Mailbox forwarding”.

Set a cost limit for data traffic
You can set a cost limit for data traffic in the Sunrise Roaming Cockpit in the tab “Settings” in the “Roaming Settings” section. To set the limit click “Change” in the section “Cost limit for data roaming”. You can change your limit any time.
We will inform you per SMS when you reach 50% and 100% of your limit. When reaching 100% the data traffic will be automatically blocked.
