Special cases and exceptions

Special events can have an impact on billing. Here are some examples:


1. First bill for new customers

The delivery of the first bill depends on the time of the contract conclusion:

a) Contract concluded at the beginning of the month

  • You will receive the first bill directly on the start date of your new subscription.

  • This bill contains the prorated subscription fees from the start date until the end of the month. Additional services used during the first month will be charged in the following month.

  • At the beginning of the new month, you will receive your first full Sunrise bill. This includes the subscription fees charged in advance at the start of each month, as well as the additional services used during the previous month (for example, calls abroad).

b) Contract concluded at the end of the month

  • You will receive your first bill at the start of the new month.

  • This bill includes the prorated subscription fees of the previous month from the time of activation, as well as the subscription fees for the current month, which are charged in advance at the beginning of each month.

  • Additional services used (for example, calls abroad) will be charged in the following month.


2. First bill after a subscription change

If you change your subscription, you will continue to pay the price of your previous subscription until the end of the current month. The price of your new subscription will only be charged from the following month onward. When you can use the services of the new subscription depends on the type of subscription change:


a) Change to a subscription with a higher price (including any discounts)

  • You can use your new subscription with all included services immediately after the subscription change, or with mobile subscriptions, on the day after the change.

  • You therefore benefit from the new subscription even though you continue to pay the price of the old subscription until the end of the month.

b) Change to a subscription with a lower price (including any discounts)

  • You can only use your new subscription from the following month.

  • This means that the services of your previous subscription remain available to you until the end of the month after the subscription change.

Exceptions: In some cases, the new price is charged immediately on the date of the subscription change. Billing is then done pro rata in the following month. This may occur, for example, when you receive new hardware (internet modem, TV box) as part of the subscription change and/or when the connection type changes (DSL, fibre, etc.).



3. First bill after taking out an additional subscription

  • If you are already a Sunrise customer and you take out an additional subscription, you will not receive a separate bill.

  • The billing of the new subscription takes place in the following month.

  • This bill will be higher than usual, as it includes the following costs in addition to your existing subscription:

    • the prorated subscription fees of the previous month from the time of activation

    • the subscription fees for the current month, which are charged in advance at the beginning of each month.


4. Bill despite cancellation

  • After the last month of your subscription, you will still receive the bill for the additional services used in the previous month (for example, calls abroad).

  • Subscription fees charged in advance will be credited proportionally on the final bill.

Frequently asked questions about the Sunrise bill

Yes. Prepaid monthly fees are credited to the next bill on a pro rata basis, and based on the date of deactivation.

Subscription fees charged in advance are credited to the next bill or the final bill on a pro rata basis.

VAT for devices and accessories will not appear on your monthly bill.


However, you will have received a VAT receipt at the start of your device plan.

This is the number for the Sunrise message center. You will always see this number on your bill when you send a text message while abroad.

Your loyalty is important to us, which is why you receive a loyalty discount as a thank-you from us to you. Your loyalty discount is a reduction you receive because you are loyal to Sunrise and either have multiple products with us, have been a customer for a long time, or a combination of both. This discount is personalized for you and appears as a recurring price reduction on your Sunrise bill. The discount is not tied to a specific product. It is available to all private customers and rewards their loyalty. You can receive the loyalty discount through selected channels. Once granted, it will appear on your next invoice.

Note: The Loyalty Discount is an account-level benefit and is not considered when calculating fees payable upon termination of products or services.

The value of your personalised Loyalty Discount is calculated every time you interact with Sunrise. Some actions will result in more Loyalty Discount, and some can cause you to lose some or all of it. It is calculated individually per customer, based on your entire Sunrise account and relationship (e.g., how many products you have, which subscriptions, how long you’ve been with Sunrise, etc.).

Most of the time you should see the same amount in My Sunrise and on your bill. However, any difference between what you see in My Sunrise and on the bill usually comes from the timing of your purchases or delays in the billing information being updated online.
