Connect Box 1
Manually install modem
Settings and adjustments for your Connect Box 1 and your Wi-Fi. These instructions explain how to turn off the Wi-Fi or how to change the frequency band.
Change Wi-Fi from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz
What is a frequency band?
A frequency band refers to a particular frequency range within which signals are sent. Wi-Fi waves can be transmitted via the two frequency bands 2.4 GHz (GHz = gigahertz) and 5 GHz."
What is the difference between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz?
Frequency bands differ in speed and distance. Compared to the 5 GHz network, the 2.4 GHz network has a wider range, but is slower. Generally speaking, the 5 GHz network is used less and therefore offers a better connection than the 2.4 GHz network.
Both frequency bands – 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz – are activated at the same time on the Connect Box 1. The modem selects the better frequency automatically.
To change the frequency via your PC’s Internet browser, proceed as follows:
Enter the following address in your computer’s Internet browser: 192.168.1.1.
You will now need the password, which you can find on the bottom of your modem under «Settings Password».
On the left, click on «Advanced settings» → Wi-Fi → Wi-Fi signal.
Set the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequency network to «Deactivate».
Confirm the changes by clicking on «Apply changes».
