Transfer a physical SIM card or eSIM
from an old iPhone to a new iPhone
SIM transfer
As a Sunrise customer, you can independently transfer your SIM from an old iPhone to a new iPhone (with eSIM).
Your SIM will be converted to an eSIM and directly transferred to your new device – no SIM swap is required.
This works whether you are currently using a classic SIM card or if an eSIM profile is already installed on your previous device.
Requirements for transferring the SIM
Your new device must be an Apple iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone 11 or newer.
iOS 18.4 or later must be installed on both iPhones.
Check the iOS version and update if needed: Settings > General > Software Update
Both devices must be near each other, and Bluetooth must be enabled on both.
You need a My Sunrise login and must have a valid ID document registered in your customer account.
Transfer during setup of a new iPhone
When prompted to transfer your phone number during the setup of your new iPhone, simply follow the on-screen instructions to transfer your physical SIM card or eSIM.
With iOS 26, you can transfer multiple phone numbers to your new iPhone.
The old SIM card will be deactivated once the mobile plan on the new iPhone is activated.
Transfer to an already set-up iPhone
You can also transfer your phone number after setting up your new iPhone as follows:
On your new iPhone, go to Settings > Mobile Service > Set up mobile data or Add eSIM.
Select the cellular plan you want to transfer from another iPhone. If no list of numbers appears, tap “Transfer From Nearby iPhone”.
Follow the instructions on your old iPhone. Tap “Transfer” to confirm. If prompted for a confirmation code, enter the code shown on your new iPhone.
Wait until the cellular plan is activated on your new iPhone. The old SIM card will be automatically deactivated once the plan is active on the new device.
If a banner with the message “Finish Setting Up Your Sunrise Mobile Plan” appears on your new iPhone, tap it.
