Installing the modem in the multimedia cabinet
Would you like to install your Sunrise Internet modem in a multimedia cabinet? With the correct cabling, you can provide reliable Internet connectivity throughout your home. Follow the steps below to complete the setup.
Before you start
Before installation, check the following points:
A multimedia cabinet is available.
A power supply for the modem is available inside the cabinet.
The fiber-optic connection (OTO socket) or the network outlets are accessible inside the cabinet.
All required cables and the Sunrise modem are ready for installation.
Installation
Connect your Sunrise modem to the power supply and connect the Internet cable according to your connection type:
Fibre: Connect the fibre-optic cable to the OTO outlet.
Cable connection: Connect the coaxial cable to the cable outlet.
Copper connection: Connect the DSL cable to the corresponding telephone outlet.
Wait until the modem's status indicator confirms that the Internet connection has been established.
Connect the network outlets in your distribution cabinet to the LAN ports of the Sunrise modem. This will provide Internet access to the rooms in your home through the existing in-house cabling.
Connect a device via WiFi or using a network cable and check whether the Internet connection is working.
If no connection can be established, check all cable connections and restart the modem.
Important note about WiFi
Installing a modem inside a metal distribution cabinet can significantly reduce WiFi coverage. Metal enclosures block wireless signals and may limit their range.
How to improve WiFi coverage:
Place the modem outside the metal cabinet whenever possible.
Use additional WiFi access points or Mesh devices.
Provide WiFi from a central location in the apartment or house.
