«Welcome Harry Styles into your home!»

It was thanks mainly to casting Harry Styles in the leading role and a number of backstage scandals that the psycho-thriller «Don’t Worry Darling» became such a hit in movie theaters. And now, along with other top movies, it’s available as a Video on Demand title to rent for your home cinema.

Since its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, the backstage scandals surrounding the thriller «Don’t Worry Darling» have been almost more important than the movie itself. It all started when director Olivia Wilde replaced the original lead actor Shia LaBeouf with the heartthrob Harry Styles, triggering a revolving relationship carousel. The story of an experimental community in which all the families are working on a secret project is really exciting. Because, behind the alluring façade, there’s something mysterious. You’ll have to wait to find out exactly what it is... «Don’t Worry Darling» will be available as a Video-on-Demand title in the Sunrise store from December 8. Here’s how it works: Enjoy VOD with Digital TV from Sunrise.

«Father Stu»

For his extreme transformation from boxer to Catholic priest, Mark Wahlberg put on 30 pounds within six weeks, as musikexpress.de writes. In the end, it was worth the hard work, though. Father Stuart Long’s fact-based story of self-destruction reminded Wahlberg of his own life journey, since he himself grew up in humble circumstances and had several run-ins with the law as a teenager. At 16, he was even charged with attempted murder. Alongside Wahlberg, you can look forward to seeing Mel Gibson as his powerful co-star. From December 8 in the VOD store.

«Last Seen Alive»

In this action thriller, Gerard Butler desperately tries to find his wife who suddenly disappeared at a gas station. But when the police begin to consider him the main suspect, he has to act quickly. Even though Butler’s by no means the first star to have their wife disappear without trace in a movie, this thriller is definitely fun. So, while it’s not a new concept, it’s still entertaining. From December 28 in the VOD store.

«The Woman King»

In this historical epic inspired by true events, warrior Viola Davis battles to preserve the African kingdom of Dahomey and to defend it against slavery. It was epic movies like «The Last of the Mohicans», «Braveheart» and «Gladiator» that provided the inspiration for the production, with filming taking place in South Africa. And yes, the African kingdom of Dahomey really did exist from the 17th to the 19th century on the West African coast and it had a women’s regiment. From December 22 in the VOD store.

«Good Luck to You, Leo Grande»

In this British tragicomedy, Emma Thompson embarks on a sexual adventure following the death of her husband and arranges for a callboy to visit her hotel room. When sex worker Leo Grande (Daryl McCormack) is suddenly standing right in front of the former religious-education teacher with his youthful and handsome body, the otherwise confident older woman suddenly gets nervous ... and learns a lot of new things about herself in the process. From December 14 in the VOD store.

Insider tips

«Jagdsaison»

Relationships can be really quite complicated. Three women experiencing a midlife crisis, Eva (Rosalie Thomass), Bella (Almila Bagriacik) and Marlene (Marie Burchard), know that all too well. Together, they embark on a wellness weekend but it threatens to go off the rails completely as soon as friendships are tested and men appear on the scene. The German remake of a successful Danish comedy impresses with its strong actresses, equally powerful dialog and plenty of situational comedy. From December 23 in the VOD store.

«Corsage»

Several TV productions and streamed series have – in the past and more recently – both profited from and moved away from the pretentiously kitsch image of Ernst Marischka’s cult film series «Sissi» with their novel portrayals of the historical figure. In this biographical drama, the Austrian Empress Elisabeth (a strong performance by Vicky Krieps) is approaching her fortieth birthday and Sisi wonders if she can escape the royal corset to enjoy some personal freedom. Quite a feat! From December 20 in the VOD store.

The holiday season seems like a fitting time to enjoy a full-length VoD feature film without any commercial breaks. See you in 2023!
