Testing the atomic bomb in «Oppenheimer» – in the VoD store from 21 December

In Christopher Nolan’s historical biopic «Oppenheimer», Cillian Murphy, playing American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer, develops the first atomic bomb – with fatal consequences. – After a somewhat dialogue-heavy beginning, the hit «Oppenheimer» really picks up steam in the last third of the film. The researcher increasingly loses control over his invention and is forced to stand back and watch what the US government does with it: ghastly – especially when we look back on it today!

Retro cult in «Theater Camp» – in the VoD store from 19 December

It’s not «School of Rock», but «Theater Camp»: before the start of the next summer camp, proprietor Joan Rubinsky (Amy Sedaris) sustains an injury that means she won’t be able to run the camp. In the midst of this emergency, her son Troy (Jimmy Tatro) steps in, but first has to work with the camp’s wildly unusual employees to keep things from getting out of hand. – A fast-paced mockumentary that, even in today’s age of mobile phones, is filmed with a 16 mm camera to give it that retro look.

The hunt for a murderer is on in «A Haunting in Venice» – in the VoD store from 6 December

Following on the heels of «Murder on the Orient Express» and «Death on the Nile», Kenneth Branagh has filmed his third Agatha Christie film: Hercule Poirot is not, however, conducting his investigations in England, as in Christie’s book «Hallowe’en Party», but rather in Venice. The new location allows for wonderfully atmospheric film horror. And while the moment they unmask the killer may be a little disappointing, the detective story certainly has its share of quality acting and cinematic moments.

Harrison Ford in «Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny» – in the VoD store from 23 December

In 1969, the United States has just won the space-race, but no one seems to be interested in old-fashioned Dr Jones (Harrison Ford) anymore. That is, until his goddaughter Helena Shaw (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) drags him on an adventure that connects the present with the past, and much earlier. – There’s been incredible speculation by Indy fans on the Internet about the fifth instalment in the «Indiana Jones» film franchise. The ending isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but the romantic finale is still a heartwarming culmination for the Indy cult.
