5G Standalone (5G SA) is an evolution of the current 5G, where a dedicated 5G core network takes over the management of data and voice connections.

It offers:

• Improved 5G reception: 5G SA uses the same frequencies as the current 5G. Since no 4G connection is required anymore, these frequencies can be used more efficiently, improving 5G coverage, especially indoors.

• More stable voice connections: Calls are made directly over the 5G network (VoNR), resulting in more stable connections and ensuring that 5G data connections are not blocked during calls.

• Longer battery life: 5G SA reduces power consumption by eliminating the need for simultaneous 4G and 5G connections. Batteries last approximately 10-20% longer.

• Enhanced security: 5G SA offers the most secure mobile connections thanks to dedicated device identity management.
