To get a Sunrise prepaid SIM, you need to register. For this, you’ll need a valid ID or passport. Choose the prepaid plan that best suits your needs.
The prepaid SIM costs 19.90 (one-time fee for the starter pack). You pay this amount during registration. In return, you receive a free starting credit of 20 francs on your prepaid SIM.
If you choose an eSIM, you can usually get started within a few minutes. If you opt for a physical SIM card, it will typically be delivered to you by post within about two working days.
You can check your Sunrise Prepaid balance by dialing *121# from your mobile phone.
For devices that can no longer check the balance since the 3G shutdown, the following alternatives are available:
Sunrise Cockpit
Direct access via the mobile network, available at cockpit.sunrise.ch (no password required, except when using Wi-Fi).
My Sunrise (App or Web Portal)
In My Sunrise, you get a comprehensive overview of your balance, top-up options, and management of your prepaid product (login required).
Yes, you can keep your current phone number when switching to Sunrise Prepaid. You need to request an unblock for number portability. This works very simply, write an SMS with the text "YES" to 499. As soon as you receive a confirmation via SMS, Sunrise can contact your current network provider to request the number. As a rule, a prepaid number porting takes between 5-10 days. You will be informed by us.
You can easily top up your prepaid credit online, on the go, or in store.

Yes, you can also use your prepaid number abroad. In the Sunrise Cockpit, you can easily book suitable roaming packages and keep your costs under control at all times.
You don’t need to cancel Sunrise Prepaid, as there is no monthly fee. If there is no usage for 17 months (mobile data, outgoing calls, or SMS), your prepaid number will be automatically deleted.
When the number is deleted, any remaining credit will be fully forfeited and can no longer be used or refunded. However, you can still use your credit before deactivation for telecommunications services as well as purchases in the Google Play Store, the Apple App Store, and with selected partners.
Yes, you can easily order a replacement SIM. This is free of charge via My Sunrise in the “SIM & devices” section.
To send you the new SIM, please top up at least 20 francs of credit within 48 hours, regardless of your current balance. The amount will be fully credited to your prepaid account. Your number will of course stay the same.
You can also activate your replacement SIM in a Sunrise Shop. Please bring a valid ID.
Your prepaid credit expires in the following cases:
If you do not use your credit for 17 months. Usage includes any active use, for example: outgoing calls, sending SMS, using mobile data, topping up your credit or purchasing options or bundles.
If you transfer your number to another provider.
In case of non-compliant use of prepaid services.
After 17 months without usage, your number will be released for reassignment.
Before your credit expires or your number is deactivated, you will receive reminders by email. Please make sure your email address in My Sunrise is up to date.
